Fulla an Iraqi translator in Baghdad Iraq. My assignment was to photograph interpreters in a way that they could not be identified. Interpreters in Iraq risk their lives and their families for Americans. Their job is to help the Americans and Iraqis understand each other. I pray that Fulla and the other brave interpreters are safe. This woman is 17 although she lied on her application to the US army and said she was 18 so that she could work for them. Ashraf was another interpreter whose picture I will post soon. She was shot in the head by radical muslims. I loved Ashraf like a sister. I spoke with her killers. They killed her for not wearing a scarf, for being a whore by working with the Americans, and for driving a car. What a great loss. Her fuzzy snapshot coming soon.

Until I shot the first one I wasn't sure if I wanted to begin photographing weddings. Destination Weddings and weddings in general are becoming a big part of me now. This blog is about destination weddings and weddings in general. Although since I'm a photojournalist there may be some photojournalism thrown in too. Photojournalism is in my blood and shooting as a photojournalist will always be natural to me. I don't say I shoot in the "style of wedding photojournalism" I just do it. I have 3 websites and here I am listing two. Wedding photography at http://www.lovesimplyhappens.com and please check out my journalism at http://www.borkgren.com More pictures coming. Just check back! I didn't take this picture however it was photographed of me and Fiona by Ricardo Miranda.

Ashraf was an interpreter in Baghdad. Radical Islamics killed her because she was translating for the US army, she drove a car and she refused to wear a head scarf. I know because I spoke with her killers. I had begged Ashraf to wear a headscarf and she just would not do it. She was a wonderful, happy person married to someone whom she loved. We lost a laugh that cannot be replaced. This is the only picture I ever got of Ashraf - it is truely a snapshot of her life.
