Fulla an Iraqi translator in Baghdad Iraq. My assignment was to photograph interpreters in a way that they could not be identified. Interpreters in Iraq risk their lives and their families for Americans. Their job is to help the Americans and Iraqis understand each other. I pray that Fulla and the other brave interpreters are safe. This woman is 17 although she lied on her application to the US army and said she was 18 so that she could work for them. Ashraf was another interpreter whose picture I will post soon. She was shot in the head by radical muslims. I loved Ashraf like a sister. I spoke with her killers. They killed her for not wearing a scarf, for being a whore by working with the Americans, and for driving a car. What a great loss. Her fuzzy snapshot coming soon.
